When it was announced in 2018 that the late Honorable Ruth Bader Ginsburg had been diagnosed with lung cancer, reports followed that “Prayers” were coming in for The Honorable Ginsburg from all over our country and, indeed, from around the world.
Reporting included messages from people saying, “I would give RBG one of my lungs!”
“Prayers For The Honorable” emerged from this eidetic moment and memory, and from the phenomenology of witnessing — “living through” -- the Collective Consciousness of expressed feelings, expressions of love, well-wishes, healing sentiments, and Gratitude sent by countless people to The Honorable Ginsburg. After that 2018 cancer diagnosis -- two tumors were surgically removed from her lungs -- and a subsequent pancreatic cancer diagnosis, The Honorable Ruth Bader Ginsburg -- now remembered and memorialized as a “feminist icon,” a “history-making jurist,” and as “Notorious RBG,” a pop culture legend -- continued her work on the U.S. Supreme Court for another two years before passing away at the age of 87.
And, after all, who is to say that Collective Prayer is not a most potent, profoundly powerful force — the workings of which are unknowable to us mere humans.
